Feelin' the Love

If the first week of 2009 is any indication, I'm in for a fun and fulfilling year of blogging. Last Friday, I received these awesome Moo MiniCards from Foodbuzz, a community of food-loving bloggers which I joined last October and with whom I became a Featured Publisher. My squeals of delight could be heard throughout the neighborhood!

I'll be giving some to friends and family but I am even more excited to begin using these calling cards to introduce myself to fellow food lovers and industry professionals who might share their thoughts, opinions and experiences with me as I search for the why of chow.

These cards were a wonderful surprise but an even better one came my way just before my husband and I left for our Philippines trip: I received my first blog award!

The Butterfly Award comes from Heather at Diary of a Fanatic Foodie - a fantastic blog full of delicious recipes, great photos and fun commentary. Check out her most recent post featuring a great recipe for tummy-warming tortilla soup. Thank you, Heather, for this award!

I hereby share the love and pass it on to dear Cris for her beautiful work on From Our Home to Yours.

Here's wishing all of my blog friends a joyous and delicious year of food blogging!

  5. Congratulations and well deserved! I received my minicards from foodbuzz the other day - they're absolutely adorable - but... they had unfortunately mis-spelt my name, so I can't tell you how gutted I was about that! (I've let them know, for future reference... sigh)

  6. Reeni - Thank you! The cards are great; as weird as it may sound, they make me want to go out and meet people just so that I can them out!

Daily Spud - Thank you, too but what a bummer about the minicards! I hope Foodbuzz sends you a corrected set - you, Reeni, and Chef E are such excellent contributors to the FB community.

  7. Tangle- Yes you can use all canola, I also believe in altering so that diet/intolerant eaters can join in the fun...I just used it to make it more 'Swahili'...and aren't those cookbooks just almost luxurious than our own here in the US :)

I actually have to be careful, because I think I might be celiac, I cannot eat too much Wheat...or I pay for it later

  8. I am also unaware of intolerance of certain foods, but I do know that I can no longer tolerate fried, too much wheat, milk, and that is why you see me use quinoa, buckwheat, and rice milk in dishes...you can bake with them, just needs more care...one reason why I quit baking years ago, my son also has problems, now with soy...

I say lets do it...I am always game for a good business!

  10. Chef E - Sigh . . . at least we have alternatives. I don't bake nearly as much as I used to but mainly because of the calories.

Let's keep the plan in mind in case our other plans fall through. We can call it "A Cook's Book Tour"! 8-)

Heather - Thank you! I was so thrilled to receive it but had to wait until our return before getting a chance to post it.

  11. Hello there Tangled!

I also received mine in the mail the other day but now they are unusable! I am so glad you got yours! Doesn't it just boost your day? Yay for your first award!

  12. Christine - Thanks! But how awful that your cards are unusable - what tragedy befell them? I have to say, this was a very good week. 8-)

  19. Congratulations!!!! I was checking my mail... and was so excited to see what you had in store for me! The moo cards are so beautiful, they cause such a good impression when we give them away :-) I want to thank you so much for the award. I hope sometime soon we'll be all enjoying a caipirinha to celebrate our friendship!

  20. Cris - You deserve it! I promise we'll work hard to make sure that we make it to Brazil. In the meantime, I'm deeply thankful to be your friend.

  21. Congratulations! You so deserve it! I love reading your blogs. Not only do you take me back to life in the mother country, but you make me feel as if you're here with me :) You weave history, facts, humor, flavors and culture so masterfully!

  23. The notecards are really adorable and everybody I gave them to were amazed. FB is a great community. Wait till you get the other suprises coming next. I joined early last year and so far I got a bag, an apron and a spatula! See you around.

  24. Gay - Thanks for the head's up! I can hardly wait - Foodbuzz has been invaluable to me, not only to draw readers to my site but also to introduce me to so many fantastic food bloggers.

  25. I just got mine this week too. I am so loving them.

Don't you think it's the greatest foodie community ever? I learn so much from it and met so many great foodies such as yourself :)

  26. Jun - I so wholeheartedly agree with you! Foodbuzz is tremendous - I don't know how I could've possibly found all the fantastic foodie bloggers like you on my own, not to mention how much its helped to put my site out there for others to see. And they have such great opportunities too - I just submitted a request to be one of their correspondents for a local food and wine show.

  30. Nutrition - Aren't they awesome! But they are so cool, I can't bear to part with any of them!

  31. I also received my moo cards from Foodbuzz 2 weeks ago. Love it :) but they put my real complete name as in the contract on it which I prefer not to.

Wonder, how come they didn't put your real name on the cards, did you ask them?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Selba - Actually, they did put my real name on the card but I 'erased' it in the photos. I think they do it for everyone. I've written some articles as a freelance writer so it's important that I present myself to sources as the 'real' me but when I'm on the web, I do prefer to go by my blog name. Maybe you can just give them to friends and family who already know you! I'm seriously considering order a batch of regular-sized cards for myself - they're about $20 for 50. Expensive but such good quality!
